“Rishi Kashyap Swasthya Sewa Yathra”

Jammu and Kashmir part of our motherland faced devastating floods in 2014 and NMO with Sewa Bharati acted promptly by sending not only required material but also 68 doctors from different part of the country for 10 days. Since 2014, Rishi Kashyap Swasthya Sewa Yatra has been regularly conducted with the help of Sewa Bharati, Jammu and Kashmir.

This Yatra is aimed to provide health care services and basic awareness to the people in the remote villages of J&K. Also it is successful in inculcating the feeling of Nationality, the essence of teamwork and Seva bhav in our young medico those volunteer to this program.

The Yatra is held every year in the months of September-October and covers areas of Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh.

Medical and dental Students and doctors from all over the nation participate for this noble cause. In such events, the doctors to interns / students’ ration will be 1:2 to create a balance while offering healthcare service.

Who is Rishi Kashyap?

The vale of Kashmir was a vast high altitude lake which was drained by Kashyap rishi, out of which the beautiful valley of Kashmir emerged, hence the name Kashyapmira which changed overtime to become Kashmir.

What is the reason behind keeping the name Rishi Kashyap to this Yatra RKSSY?

As this Yatra is organised in areas of Jammu and Kashmir and Kashmir is named after him, so the Yatra is named after Rishi Kashyap.

How is RKSSY different from DSY?

RKSSY is organized in J&K while DSY (Dhanvantari Sewa Yatra) is organized in north eastern states. RKSSY is a 7 day Yatra while DSY is 10 day, if travel durations are included. RKSSY conducts 3-day camps while DSY conducts 5-days of medical camps.

Yes, participants of this Yatra are felicitated at Valedictory function with certificates certifying the services rendered at the remote areas of J&K.

Can any student and doctor volunteer for RKSSY?

The volunteer should be a member of NMO to participate in the Yatra but non members can participate with permission.

How to enroll into this Yatra RKSSY?

To enroll for the Yatra, one can send their details and consent of participation to their respective state secretary who is required to forward the list to national secretary/ RKSSY COORDINATOR or contact us at www.nationalmedicosorganisation.org .

Do I need to be a member of NMO to participate in this Yatra RKSSY?

Preferably Yes. For students, you should have student membership of NMO and for doctors, you should have lifetime membership. However non members can participate with permission of NMO authorities.

What are the prerequisites to participate in this Yatra?

Students are required to send a consent form duly signed by their parents attached to their details in the mail to their state secretary.

What would be the approximate total expenses for a student if they want to participate in this program?

The participants have to bear the cost of their travelling up and down to Jammu. Rest is borne by the organisation.
